Eufy X9 Pro Vs Roborock Q Revo: Differences

The Roborock Q Revo edges out the Eufy X9 Pro with a score of 3-2, and that’s just the beginning of the story. Let’s dive into my detailed comparison of these two formidable contenders!

Cleaning Performance

Winner: Roborock Q Revo

Hard Floor

Eufy X9 ProRoborock Q Revo
≈ 99%≈ 99%

One word to describe how well these bots picked up on my hardwood floor: awesome! Both were able to achieve an incredibly commendable 99% pick-up rate. To me, that’s the pinnacle of what a robot vacuum can achieve.

Carpet

Eufy X9 ProRoborock Q Revo
Low-pile Carpet≈ 89%≈ 94%
High-pile Carpet≈ 82%≈ 90%

The Q Revo still picked up most of the debris on both of my carpets. Meanwhile, the X9 Pro was lackluster and registered scores just below 90% across the board, which was noticeably worse than others in this price bracket.

Hair

Eufy X9 ProRoborock Q Revo
5-inch Strands≈ 78%≈ 62%
10-inch Strands≈ 69%≈ 55%

I tested these bots against 5- and 10-inch hair strands to gauge how efficiently these bots pick up hair and prevent tangles, and the X9 Pro proved to be superior in collecting hair. After all the tests, a fair amount of hair was wrapped around their rollers, and it only took a few seconds to detach them from the chassis and get rid of all the tangled hair.

Design & Usability

Winner: Eufy X9 Pro

Dimensions & Weight

Eufy X9 ProRoborock Q Revo
Dimensions (W x H)12.9 x 4.5 inches13.9 x 3.8 inches
Weight26 lbs10 lbs

On initial observation, the Q Revo showcases the conventional round shape seen in many robot vacuums, whereas the X9 features a D-shaped frame with a somewhat squared front. This distinct design enables the X9 Pro to excel in corner cleaning, but it can be a hindrance in tighter spots.

The Eufy X9 Pro features a D-shaped frame

The X9 Pro also measures around 4.5 inches high, which is an inch taller than the  Q Revo and most of the other robot vacuums I’ve tried. So this one may struggle to maneuver beneath furniture with lower clearances, such as beds and couches.

Both these robots and their multifunctional bases are crafted from plastic (yes, they come with multifunctional bases), but they still exude a solid build quality. The Eufy X9 is even one of the heaviest robovacs I’ve come across, but it’s not particularly burdensome to lift or move. The X9 Pro’s station boasts elegantly rounded edges and feels a little fragile compared to the sturdy block-shaped base of the Q Revo.

Extractor & Side Brush

The underside of the Eufy X9 Pro vs Roborock Q Revo

The X9 Pro and Q Revo use bristle-free rubber brush rollers as the main tool to suck up everything on the floor, including dirt, larger particles, and hair. An added benefit is that these rollers are detachable for easier cleaning, and untangling them is also super easy since hair doesn’t wrap tightly around them as it might with bristled versions.

Both also feature a 3-arm side brush designed to sweep dirt from corners and edges, directing it toward the main cleaning path. Given that these side brushes incorporate bristle tips, they might not be as enduring as those made entirely of rubber. If you opt for the Q Revo, there’s an option to purchase Roborock’s latest rubber corner brush as a backup because it is compatible with this bot.

Navigation

In the realm of robovacs, some use laser beams to scan their surroundings for mapping and basic navigation (LiDAR-based), while others rely on a top-mounted camera to get the job done (vSLAM). The X9 Pro and Q Revo fall into the LIDAR category – If you take a closer look at these bots, you will find a small tower on top of each, where LiDAR sits.

lidar technology
LiDAR technology

By the way, LiDAR stands for “Light Detection and Ranging,” referring to the use of a laser, which emits light pulses. Using laser beams means these bots can map out the environment more accurately and precisely than camera-based ones. What’s more, they create maps very quickly and can work in complete darkness since LiDAR technology doesn’t rely on visible light.

Regarding the multi-map saving function, the X9 Pro holds an edge by storing up to 5 maps, while the Q Revo is capable of memorizing 4 maps of different zones or floors within a building. Such capabilities come in handy, especially if you have a multi-story residence or run a business with separate areas.

Obstacle avoidance technology on the Eufy X9 Pro vs Roborock Q Revo

Another important factor that needs to be taken into account is the ability to avoid obstacles. Both are nominally able to detect and avoid obstacles but with different technologies. The X9 Pro features a front-facing RGB camera and 3D ToF sensors, while the Q Revo relies on an IR sensor. If you are concerned about privacy, Eufy reassures you that the X9 Pro’s camera neither stores nor uploads any of the pictures it can see. Furthermore, you’ll be pleased to know that the X9 Pro holds the TÜV Rheinland privacy and security certification.

On paper, their features sound impressive, but how well do they avoid obstacles? To find out, I conducted a test with four distinct objects: a shoe, a doll, a cord, and fake pet waste. I placed these obstacles on the floor to assess how adeptly these robots navigated the space and avoided these objects.

The X9 Pro did an excellent job detecting and avoiding all four objects. Prior to this test, the list of robot vacuums that could discern the cord was short, but the X9 Pro really did with its RGB camera. On the other hand, the Q Revo adeptly navigated around everything but faltered with the cord, proofing that its IR sensor can only detect things that are large enough.

Battery Life

Eufy X9 ProRoborock Q Revo
Battery Life≈ 82–194 mins≈ 98–201 mins
Charging Time≈ 184 mins≈ 210 mins

Both the X9 Pro and Q Revo use a 5200 mAh Li-ion battery, the largest one in the robovac industry. Consequently, you can expect a commendable duration of operation between charges for both models, although this number will vary based on the specific cleaning settings they operate under.

Additionally, these robots possess the intelligence to automatically return to their docking stations to recharge, whether they’ve completed their cleaning cycle or if their batteries deplete midway. After recharging, they pick up right where they left off, ensuring any unfinished cleaning is completed. This “Recharge & Resume” functionality eliminates the need for manual intervention in the recharging process and ensures a hands-free experience for you.

Control

Winner: Eufy X9 Pro

Manual Control

There are only a few physical buttons on top of these vacuums since most of the controls are accessible via the app. The Q Revo features a Power button for initiating or pausing cleaning and a Home button to direct the robot back to its base. The X9 Pro shares these buttons but also sports a square one to toggle the spot-cleaning function on or off.

App Connectivity

Now I will compare the Eufy app and the Roborock Home app. They offer essential tools for customizing the X9 Pro and Q Revo to your liking, and many features are commonly found in both.

Let’s start with a lot of shared features. These apps show a map of your living space, possibly with rooms divided, and you can separate or merge them as you like before naming each one. This facilitates cleaning by room instead of starting a full-floor cleaning cycle to clean up your kitchen, for example. Both apps also allow you to keep an eye on your robot’s whereabouts in real-time with the live map option. And if you just want to deal with a sudden spill in the kitchen, the option to set “spot-cleaning” zones has you covered.

These apps also give you enough tools to prevent your robot from entering some unwanted areas, including no-go zones and invisible walls. The no-mop zone option is also available to keep the robot from dampening your carpets while equipped with mopping pads, although both the X9 Pro and Q Revo can automatically elevate their mopping pads when they sense a carpet underneath.

set no-go zones and invisible walls
Set no-go zones and invisible walls

You can also verbally command these bots to perform certain tasks since both can work with Alexa and Google Assistant. And if that is still not convenient enough for you, you can always program a cleaning schedule, letting them take over the cleaning chores without any nudges from you. There are a lot of things you can do with these apps, including viewing cleaning history, adjusting the vacuum/mop power, activating the child lock, and more.

Speaking of the differences, the Eufy app allows you to control the X9 Pro manually. And no, I’m not referring to using physical buttons on the top of the chassis. Do you remember how we controlled an RC car in childhood? That’s it. Personally, I find it not easy to control the bot this way, but with some persistence, it becomes manageable.

As for the Roborock app, it can display the map in 3D form, giving you another interesting perspective on your living space – but it’s not really as useful as the Ecovacs X1 Omni.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Winner: Roborock Q Revo

Like all robot vacuums, these bots come equipped with onboard dust bins. The X9 Pro houses a 410ml dust container, while the Q Revo offers a slightly smaller 350ml capacity. The X9 Pro uses a HEPA filter versus an E11-rated filter on the Q Revo – their filters are washable and should be cleaned anywhere from once a month to once a month.

the multifunctional base
The multifunctional base

Their dustbins, being on the smaller spectrum, tend to fill up rather rapidly, necessitating regular emptying. However, this frequent emptying isn’t much of a concern for the Q Revo, as it has the smart capability to autonomously retreat to its home base, empty its bin, and promptly resume its cleaning duties.

So what about the X9 Pro? Doesn’t it also come out of the box with a bulky base station? Indeed, it is, but the X9 Pro’s base doesn’t include an auto-emptying function that an all-in-one station should have. That means you will need to use your hands to pull the bin out to empty it. Although it is easy enough to remove, you’ll inevitably end up with dirty hands, no matter how careful you are or how hard you try.

For the remaining tasks, including refilling the water tank and washing and drying the mopping pads, these giant towers both do the job well. They have a pair of water tanks, one for fresh water and the other for waste. But a cautionary note: always make it a point to empty, rinse, and let the waste water tank air dry by the end of the day. If left unchecked, a nasty smell will quickly develop!

Other Features

Winner: Eufy X9 Pro

Noise

Eufy X9 ProRoborock Q Revo
Working≈ 42-65 dB≈ 45-67 dB
Self-EmptyingNone≈ 75 dB

Both of these bots make a sound when in operation, of course they do. But their operational sound is relatively subdued, on par with the gentle drone of a window air conditioner. It’s worth mentioning that the Q Revo becomes especially noisy during the self-emptying process, so it’s advised to schedule cleaning during a time when you’re not in need of a quiet environment.

Mopping Ability

An interesting feature of the X9 Pro and Q Revo is the mopping system. I mean, their mopping ability is truly commendable, unlike low-level hybrid bots that simply drag a single, stationary mop plate across the floor surface. Mirroring techniques seen in commercial-grade floor cleaners, the X9 Pro and Q Revo use a pair of mopping discs that rotate at 180 and 200 RPM, respectively, adept at loosening and removing stubborn stains.

dual mopping discs on the eufy x9 pro
Dual mopping discs on the Eufy X9 Pro

The game changer here is that the X9 Pro applies one kilogram of downward pressure to scrub the floor, imitating what we typically do when cleaning a stubborn stain with a mop. That way, its mopping performance is better than any combo robot I’ve tested. During my testing, both did a great job of cleaning up grape juice stains, but the X9 Pro excelled at handling dried-on BBQ sauce.

Both can also lift the mop pads themselves when any carpet or rug is detected. The Q Revo can raise the mop up to 7mm above the ground surface, while the X9 Pro is once again ahead of the game with a 12 mm rise. Of course, setting no-mop zones is always a prudent move for an added layer of assurance.
