Roborock Q7 Max vs Eufy X8: Which one is better? Or better, which one suits you best? This post will probably give you the correct answer. But to start, the Roborock Q7 Max is definitely superior.

As always, they share a lot of features, so they can vacuum intelligently and automatically without a lot of babysitting. The Roborock Q7 Max is superior because it can memorize more maps, resist tangling better thanks to its all-rubber roller, and act like a mopping robot. As for the Eufy X8, it has a large dustbin, not to mention that exclusive compression technology enables it to hold substantial amounts of dust and dirt before necessitating emptying.

Roborock Q7 Max Vs Eufy X8: Differences

The Roborock Q7 Max wins 4-2 against the Eufy X8, and that’s just the beginning of the story. Let’s read on to explore further insights!

Cleaning Performance

Winner: Roborock Q7 Max

Hard Floor

Roborock Q7 MaxEufy X8
≈ 97%≈ 99%

This test is, no doubt, usually one of the easiest for robots to pass. The Eufy RoboVac X8 proved to be the better option on my hardwood floors, cleaning up 90% of the debris. The Q7 Max was less adept on this type of surface, but it still picked up an impressive score of 97%.

Carpet

Roborock Q7 MaxEufy X8
Low-pile Carpet≈ 94%≈ 97%
High-pile Carpet≈ 95%≈ 92%

Both generally did well with carpeting. The Eufy X8 had a higher score on the low-pile carpet with a score of up to 97%, while the Q7 Max was ahead of the game on the high-pile carpet with a pick rate of 95%.

Hair

Roborock Q7 MaxEufy X8
5-inch Strands≈ 87%≈ 62%
10-inch Strands≈ 61%≈ 48%

Cleaning hair is a challenge that stumps many robot vacuums, and sadly, the Q7 Max and Eufy X8 fall into this category. They left behind a significant amount of hair, especially 10-inch strands. The Q7 Max picked up more, and its rubberized roller design made untangling a breeze.

Design & Usability

Winner: Roborock Q7 Max

First Look & Dimensions

Weight9.59 lbs7.72 lbs

These Roborocks share a familiar circular chassis and come in either white or black, so you can easily choose which color option matches your living space. There is an eye-like dome that serves as their navigation system, utilizing LiDAR technology to map out their surroundings. I’ll cover it more later, but this laser tower gives the bots a bit of height, making them ill-suited for low-clearance furniture.

Both come with a compact charging dock instead of a multi-function base station, which is gradually becoming more popular. The Q7 Max has a mopping pad since it is a hybrid robot. The Eufy X8 comes with an extra side brush and filter for when replacements are in order.

Extractor & Side Brush

The heart of their cleaning mechanisms, the main brush rollers, are where the Q7 Max and Eufy X8 diverge. The Q7 Max uses an all-rubber roller compared to a traditional combo roller on the Eufy X8. The Q7 Max’s roller surely still needs TLC, especially if you’re a pet owner, but at least untangling it is a straightforward affair. In contrast, the Eufy X8’s brush roller may require a bit more elbow grease to keep hair-free, even if it comes with a special cleaning tool.

They also don’t share the side brush: the Q7 Max opts for a rubber one, while the Eufy X8 uses one with bristles. This difference doesn’t affect how well they clean, but it certainly gives the Q7 Max an award for durability. The Eufy X8 comes out of the box with two corner brushes, allowing for easy replacements as needed.

Navigation

There is no top-mounted camera like the iRobot Roombas – both make use of a LiDAR tower on top for mapping fast and accurately. These robots can swiftly and skillfully navigate through your home in straight lines and are quite efficient in dealing with walls and furniture. Using lasers means these bots are able to clean both well-lit and dark areas, but they definitely do better in areas that are fully illuminated.

Speaking of detecting and avoiding obstacles (I mean unexpected objects that may appear on the cleaning path), these bots are just decent. They are not outfitted with front-facing cameras that could aid in obstacle avoidance. Instead, they are only equipped with integrated bumpers to ensure that, in the event of a collision with an obstruction, the impact is gentle, and the robot will then promptly pivot away from the obstacle.

Another factor to consider is the ability to store multiple maps. Constantly redrawing the map every time the bot is placed on a new floor can be a real nuisance, don’t you think? Fortunately, the Q7 Max can save up to four different maps, while the Eufy X8 can remember three. Saving three or four floors might not sound like much, but they are generally sufficient for most households.

Battery Life

Roborock Q7 MaxEufy X8
Battery Life≈ 91-183 mins≈ 103–176 mins
Charging Time≈ 198 mins≈ 231 mins

When these bots are in the lowest power setting, they can operate continuously for up to about 3 hours before needing to be recharged, which is consistent with the 5200 mAh capacity of their batteries. Better yet, with the “Recharge and Resume” feature on both, you can be confident that the robot vacuum will complete the job without any intervention. If they run out of battery during a cleaning cycle, they will automatically return to the docking station to recharge. Once the battery is fully charged, they will resume cleaning from where they left off.

Control

Winner: Tie

Manual Control

There are three control buttons on top of these bots that you can use to start or pause a cleaning trip, send the robot back to the charging dock, and start area cleaning (or spot cleaning). They are useful if you don’t have the app at hand but still want to start a full cleaning run or a quick tidy-up in the kitchen, for example.

App Connectivity

I may be speaking for myself, but I’d wager that there’s a good number of folks willing to invest their hard-earned dollars in robot vacuum cleaners, all for the sheer convenience of remote control via smartphones. The process is a breeze – simply download the EufyHome or Roborock app, whip up an account, and voilà, you can seamlessly link your robot to the Wi-Fi network to access a ton of smart features.

Once connected, you can run the Q7 Max/Eufy X8 for the first time, and you will get a bird’s-eye view of what your floor looks like and access to all of the smart features. If you plan on using these bots on multiple floors, you can use the multi-map saving function, which allows the app to automatically save and switch to the appropriate floor.

Set no-go zones and invisible walls (on the EufyHome app)

You can use the map on the app to choose which rooms your bot should clean, set no-go zones and invisible walls, or send the robot to a specific zone for spot cleaning. You can also keep an eye on its cleaning route and see which areas it has tackled while it’s on duty. Both bots can also integrate with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for voice control. You can set up a custom schedule so your robot will spring into action without the need for daily prompts.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Winner: Eufy X8

The Q7 Max features a 0.48-liter dustbin, smaller than the 0.6-liter dustbin on the back of the Eufy X8. That means the X8’s clamshell-shaped bin needs to be emptied less often, not to mention that UltraPack Dust-Compression Technology allows it to house more dust and dirt than it seems. And the best part? Your dust is compressed, which means it won’t scatter everywhere when you empty the bin. The included cleaning tool conveniently snaps into the top of the dustbin, so you can easily access it to remove hair and other dirt as needed.

You will also find a filter in the dust container. The Q7 Max uses an E11 filter, while the Eufy X8 features a HEPA filter. Both filters can be cleaned with water, and all you need to do is hold these filters under a gentle stream of water for a minute and let them dry out for 24 hours before putting them back to work.

Other Features

Winner: Roborock Q7 Max

Noise

Roborock Q7 MaxEufy X8
Working≈ 59-75 dB≈ 41-52 dB
Self-EmptyingNoneNone

The Eufy X8 is one of my quietest robot vacuums, with a maximum noise level of 52 dB compared to 75 dB emitted by the Q7 Max at the highest power setting. The Q7 Max isn’t loud in the first three settings, but it’s loud in the max setting. Fortunately, the first three settings are enough for the majority of cleaning jobs, especially on hard floors. By the way, both the Q7 Max and Eufy X8 can increase suction when they detect carpets.

Mopping Ability

There’s no comparison here since only the Roborock Q7 has the mopping function, and it doesn’t truly shine at this task, at least when compared to some Roborock Q7 Max hybrid robots. It features an electronic mopping system. So, after you fill the water container, which is integrated into the dust box, it will electronically pump water into the mop pad to ensure it’s sufficiently damp for cleaning. Then, you can adjust the water density to suit your cleaning needs.

Firstly, the Q7 Max does not lift its mopping pad above ground when it detects carpets. Hence, you’ll need to take a moment to designate no-mop zones using the app or remove the carpet before using this one to mop. It’s not a big deal, but just know that most high-end Roborocks have this cool feature.

Additionally, it’s important to note that the Q7 Max doesn’t feature the innovative vibrating or agitating elements that you would find in the S7 MaxV or the Roborock Q Revo. Instead, it simply dragged the cloth across the floor with a fixed 300g of pressure, akin to a guy or gal manually mopping. As a result, it failed to thoroughly treat the dried-on BBQ sauce in my test, even though it still easily handled juice stains.
